Panorama ridge
by Mitch Winton
This image is of Garibaldi Lake just
south of Whistler, Canada. It is a steep
16km hike through a beautiful forest and
past an extinct volcano before finally
mounting the ridge to reveal this amazing
view. It was a clear night, but it turned
cold fast at that altitude. To capture the
sheer size of the lake I had to take the
image as a panorama – this is 28 images
stitched together in post-production.
The image took 16 minutes in total to
capture, taken just after midnight.
