Into the desert

This photo was taken one evening just
as the sun was beginning to set in the
Liwa desert area of Abu Dhabi, United
Arab Emirates. The man with the camel
gives a sense of scale to this impressive
place and the giant sand dunes that
dominate the landscape. Shooting late in
the day meant the fall of the sun’s rays on
the sand created alternating areas of light
and shadow, which work together to make
a beautiful contrast within the picture.
